Meet
Nathan Smoothy

Qualified Sports Therapist & Biomechanics Expert

I’m Nathan Smoothy — a sports massage therapist, rehab specialist, and performance practitioner with a deep passion for biomechanics, movement efficiency, and helping people not just get out of pain, but perform at their highest potential.

My approach goes beyond treating symptoms. I focus on understanding how the body moves as a system — how breathing, posture, joint mechanics, strength, and load management all interact to either create resilience or lead to breakdown. This biomechanics-driven mindset allows me to identify root causes that are often missed and build rehab strategies that actually last.

Before working in rehab and performance, I competed at a high level across multiple sports. I represented Team GB in triathlon, racing internationally including the World Triathlon Championships Beijing. I also placed 2nd in the National Cross Country Championships and competed at major events such as the London Triathlon.

After my triathlon career was disrupted by a rare stomach condition, I transitioned into strength sports — competing in strongman and powerlifting — before suffering a major pectoral tendon rupture that required surgical reattachment. Years later, just as I returned to high-level training, I was diagnosed with liver cancer and underwent surgery to remove half of my liver.

Each setback reshaped how I understand the body, recovery, and performance.

Rather than ending my journey in sport, these experiences deepened my obsession with biomechanics, tissue capacity, intelligent rehab, and long-term resilience. They are the foundation of how I now work with athletes, runners, and everyday clients who feel stuck in cycles of pain.

Today, through Nathan Smoothy Sports Massage, I combine:

• Sports massage and manual therapy
• Corrective exercise and rehab programming
• Biomechanics-based movement assessment
• Performance-focused strength and conditioning principles

My mission is simple:
Fix the problem — not just the pain.

Whether you’re an athlete chasing performance, a runner dealing with recurring injuries, or someone who’s lost hope after trying everything else, I’m here to help you understand your body and build it stronger than before.

How I Work

Pain is rarely the real issue. It’s a signal that something isn’t moving, loading, or working the way it should.

At Smoothy Sports Massage, I go beyond quick fixes and temporary relief to find the root cause — combining hands-on therapy, movement assessment, and performance-based rehab to get you back to training stronger, more resilient, and pain-free for the long term.
